Welcome
Welcome! I am Zaheer, and you are visiting my web home. If you have come this far, you are most likely someone I know or someone who wants to stay connected or a random Google search visitor. Whomever you may be, I am very excited that you are here.
I started this blog back in my student days, and I have tried to keep my online presence alive ever since. I think the world has changed a lot since then; and we see more of twitter, Facebook, youtube, Whatsapp et al. I believe individual blogs have a unique and prominent space on the web.
Why read my blog?
I think perspectives are essential, Instagram posts, Facebook updates and other social media do not accurately represent individual perspectives. I think experiences are more than a picture with a filter and a hashtag. I believe experiences, when read, is like submerging into another person's thoughts. As a lawyer by training, my entire blog is dedicated to featuring unique challenges, ideas, experiences, and issues in the legal domain. In my new opinion sections, I will be sharing my unique perspective on how I see current affairs and issues concerning our society. Finally, I am delighted to share my travel diaries, where I will be sharing my experiences, my restaurant review, my photo streams, and a whole lot of stuff that is not related to the law.
Brief Biography
Early Life - India: I was born in Hyderabad, India. A city I discovered and fell in love with most recently, to be precise since 2015. My family traces their roots back to Madras (historically known as the Madras Presidency of British India, presently Chennai, Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Established under Qutb Shahi Dynasty, presently Hyderabad, Telangana) and Bangalore ( Presently Bangaluru, Karnataka). All three cities are sprawling metropolises in modern India. After my birth, my parents returned to Madras from Hyderabad. I spent the first 10 years of my life in Madras, I attended Gill Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School until grade 5. After the subsequent death of my biological father in the late 1980s, my mother had relocated from Madras to Dubai, UAE to support the family. Both I and my sister were under the care of my grandparents while my mother established her career with the Al Futtaim Group. In the early 1990s, my mother had sponsored both me and my sister as her dependent to live in Dubai, UAE.
Life in Dubai, UAE: Dubai in the 1990s was a sprawling city, with new construction, migration and ample opportunities for immigrants. Both my sister and I were enrolled in the Grammar School at the time and attended different schools prior to graduating high school. It was in these early years in Dubai when my mother remarried and both myself and my sister had a father figure. We lived a middle-class life in Dubai, and for most middle-class families that meant that your stay in Dubai was restricted to the time one had a job. Our family filed for immigration papers to Canada in the late 1990s and we migrated to Canada in the year 2002.
Life in Canada: Our family had chosen Toronto, Ontario as our new home. We relocated from Toronto to Edmonton, Alberta in 2006 and Edmonton has been our home ever since. There is more to our life in Canada, as I have had the opportunity of living in three Canadian Provinces, New Brunswick, Ontario and Alberta. I hope to share interesting experiences in these provinces in the coming months.
